Migrant children in France are often treated as adults because of flawed age checks, left homeless and forced to survive in degrading conditions. Appeals against these assessments take months or years. France must act now to reform its laws and guarantee protection for migrant children. Europe cannot tolerate policies that abandon children to hunger and homelessness.

Myanmar’s military has carried out a deadly air strike on a hospital in Rakhine State, killing at least 33 civilians, including a baby, and injuring dozens more, according to local reports. The attack on Mrauk-U General Hospital took place on International Human Rights Day, a chilling reminder of the military’s total disregard for civilian life and humanitarian law. Air strikes by the junta have reached a record high in 2025 as repression intensifies ahead of a planned election marked by widespread abuses. Bombing a hospital is a crime against humanity; the UN must persuade/ pressure Russia and China, who are the main suppliers of weapons to Myanmar, to cut their shipments of weapons to Myanmar and stop profiting from the indiscriminate deaths of sick people, no less, thousands of miles away. The International Criminal Court can also play a role in ending this continuing travesty and preventing further atrocities.

Perhaps the most horrifying consequence of the war in Sudan is the rape and killing of innocents, including children and toddlers. In general, UN Women saw a 288 percent increase in the number of gender-based violence survivors seeking services, highlighting the overwhelming use of rape as a weapon of war.

A 37-year-old U.S. citizen was shot and killed by an ICE agent in Minneapolis, and almost immediately, the federal government moved to justify the killing as self-defense. Based on the three videos taken of the incident, this was NOT self-defense. It was a reckless use of lethal force. Calling it anything else insults the public’s intelligence and deepens the horrific wound and devastating lifelong pain that her child will suffer for losing his mother, the most important figure in his life. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey rejected the federal explanation and rightfully called it “bullshit.” He demanded that ICE leave the city, warning that ICE's presence endangers public safety. When a federal office kills an innocent American citizen, and the government blatantly lies to protect his criminal act, it betrays the very principles it claims to defend, the public. This was murder, plain and simple. Every American citizen needs and must receive accountability.

37yo and still not smart enough to know dont run over someone

I watched 4 different videos. In my opinion the officer was justified. PS: all these replies all but one just an insult; not surprised.

So stopping wasn’t an option?

It was someone who believed that they were above the law finding out the hard way that nobody is. Fight your fight in court and live to see another day.

I hope the agent is doing ok 🙏

It was self-defense

Even if she didn’t hit him, she was told to exit the vehicle…they even tried to open the door, ignore a federal agents orders suffer the consequences

Leave law enforcement alone when they are doing their job. Pretty simple idea.

Look to me like she was trying to run over the guy

Even if a stop by law enforcement is unlawful, its smarter to just cooperate anyways, because if it was actually unlawful you can sue them for it, doing what she did could have gotten her in court easily even if she wasn't shot. Its not like her life was in immediate danger before she did that, she put it in danger herself with reckless action.

She tried to interfere with a federal investigation and got what she deserved. If you have kids and you know that you value your life you shouldn’t get involved with agents that have guns what made her think in her liberal brain that she is invincible?

She blocked and antagonized these officers all day and finally was confronted all she did was try to run a federal agent over that was doing his job, justified according to the law and protocol. Unfortunate loss of life if she only complied with the Ice officers orders this wouldn’t have happened..

Here is what matters ..based on law, not emotion: • She disobeyed lawful commands from federal law enforcement • She obstructed an active ICE operation • She remained in the driver’s seat of a vehicle, which courts consistently recognize as a potential deadly weapon • She pressed the accelerator while officers were positioned in front of the vehicle • She did not stop, surrender, or comply despite multiple opportunities She had options. She could have: ✔️ Stopped the vehicle ✔️ Turned off the engine ✔️ Put her hands up ✔️ Exited the vehicle ✔️ Complied with commands She chose none of those. Instead, she chose to: ❌ Obstruct ❌ Disobey ❌ Move the vehicle while officers were in immediate danger ⚖️ WHAT THE LAW SAYS 🔹 Vehicle as a Deadly Weapon Federal courts have repeatedly held that a motor vehicle can constitute a deadly weapon when used against officers. • United States v. Anchrum, 590 F.3d 795 (9th Cir. 2009) • United States v. Sanchez, 914 F.3d 1355 (11th Cir. 2019) 🔹 Use of Deadly Force Standard Law enforcement is permitted to use deadly force when an officer has probable cause to believe a suspect poses an immediate threat of serious bodily harm or death. • Tennessee v. Garner, 471 U.S. 1 (1985) 🔹 Objective Reasonableness Standard Use of force is judged from the perspective of a reasonable officer on the scene, not with hindsight. • Graham v. Connor, 490 U.S. 386 (1989) 🔹 Obstruction & Assault of Federal Officers • 18 U.S.C. § 111 — Assaulting, resisting, or impeding federal officers • 18 U.S.C. § 1501 — Obstruction of federal process 🔹 Failure to Comply During Lawful Detention Refusal to comply during a lawful federal enforcement action escalates legal exposure and justifies force escalation when safety is threatened. • DOJ Use-of-Force Policy (Revised 2021–2024) Her death is a tragedy that could have been prevented

Oh please!!! That officer had every right to do this!!! SHE caused her own death!!!

Should have not got involved in something that she has no business in.

She got Exactly what she asked for

She did not comply with the orders. Simple comply with the law

She tried to use her car as a weapon.... Justifiable..

No. It was self defense

Consequences

"Stupid is , as stupid does ! "in my best Forest Gump voice !

Agree she deserve it

The agent was an American hero!

What happened in India, where a senior public official was seen forcibly pulling down a Muslim woman’s hijab during a public event, is a stark example of Islamophobia in plain sight. This was not a misunderstanding or a moment of poor judgment; it was an assault on a woman’s dignity, autonomy, and religious freedom. When those in power police a woman’s clothing and faith, they legitimize discrimination and embolden abuse. No one has the right to decide how a woman expresses her beliefs. Such acts deepen fear, normalize exclusion, and erode equality before the law. This incident demands unequivocal condemnation and accountability by the Indian government.

Hijab Is Freedom? Are you saying that a woman in India chiose to wear hijab?

Islamophobia is just a made up term in an attempt to silence the truth this was disrespecting someone if it was a phobia they would be scared of her

Islam is not a religion!

Who cares Islam must be defeated

Another pedophile supporting the religion of pedophiles.

More than 160 people in Vietnam are imprisoned not for crimes, but for speaking out. Bloggers, human rights defenders, and peaceful activists face constant surveillance, harassment, and intimidation. Many are held for months or years in pre-trial detention, often without access to lawyers or family. In a one-party state that tolerates no dissent, basic freedoms lead to prison. This is a systematic effort to silence criticism. Pressure must come from Vietnam’s key partners, the United States, the European Union, democratic governments, and major trade partners, who should condition trade, aid, and diplomatic engagement on human rights improvements and demand the immediate release of those jailed for exercising their rights.

I am very elated to announce a new addition to enrich my regular repertoire: a paid subscription platform for extra content – additional podcast episodes, lectures, live Q&As, and weekly briefs on the latest, most pressing issues around the world.

With increasing violence, and alarming crackdowns on free speech and independent media and voices, it is more critical than ever to continue speaking out impartially and without bias, and supporting those who dare to speak truth to power.

Your support will enable me to continue tackling such important issues and expand my educational and informational outreach. It will also help me reach and engage audiences worldwide who may not have the opportunity to attend an in-person lecture or event, and share ideas that other media may not cover.

What’s Included?
For $5/month, subscribers will receive the following:
- “On the Issues: Beyond the Headlines,” a weekly live podcast series (my first guest: author and futurist Tsvi Bisk, discussing Israeli perspectives toward Gaza)
- “Let’s Call It As It Is: Live with Alon Ben-Meir,” weekly, live in-depth short lectures (20 to 25 minutes) on a significant, pressing global issue, followed by a question-and-answer session
- Weekly video every Friday discussing the most noteworthy or pressing issue of the week.

Followers on my social media will continue to receive everything you have received from me in the past – weekly articles, as well as my podcast “On the Issues,” which publishes every three weeks on Tuesdays. You will also be able to access all my regular social media posts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube.
